I have said it before, and I will say it again....I have the best baby in the whole world!
When she was about 2.5 months, I noticed that she would be asleep when I would feed her at night and would only wake up when I changed her diaper. So I decided to turn her night feeding into a "dreamfeed". Basically, we would pick her up swaddled and feed her about 4 ounces while she was asleep. We didn't change her diaper or unswaddle her. After she finished eating, we would just lay her back down and she would continue sleeping. She literally ate in her sleep. She was fine eating without having to be burped after and she has her eyes closed the whole time. At first we would do it at 1am and then we moved it slowly to midnight. Jonny and I would take turns who would do it depending on who was working the next day.
A few nights ago, I was feeding her and she only ate 2 ounces and didn't want any more. I even tried to arouse her just a little bit, but she wouldn't suck on the bottle anymore. Finally I just gave up and decided that if she got hungry later in the night, I would feed her the last 2 ounces. But she was fine for the rest of the night.
Th next night, Jonny was feeding her and she wouldn't eat any at all. The night after that, she barely ate an ounce. We realized that our wonderful Yaeli dropped the dreamfeed all on her own! Didn't I say she's the most wonderful baby ever! For the last couple of nights, we haven't even been offering her the bottle at night, and she hasn't been waking up any more then usual. Yeay!
Now if only she would stop crying for her pacifier 4-10 times a night, both Jonny and I could actually get good sleep! :)
