Yaeli at Descanso Gardens

Today we went to Descanso Gardens as a family.  It's a botanical garden in La Canada Flintridge.  Originally, we thought that it would be a nice place to take a walk with Yaeli in her stroller.  That although we were going as a family, it would be more for us then for her.

Well, we were pleasantly surprised at how much Yaeli enjoyed it!  We held her the whole time and she wanted to touch every leaf and flower (and eat it).  I could literally see her learning and developing.  She was completely engaged in this new environment and loving it.  Everything seemed fascinating to her:  every new sound, sight, feel, and smell.  She even wanted to touch the dirty-looking storage shed.

Of course we took lots of pictures!

I also really enjoyed feeding her on a park bench surrounded by nature and beautiful old trees.

At the end, we realized that Yaeli has developed enough to where she needs to be exposed to new places.  It is not enough for her to just play with her toys all day.  She needs to be out in the world learning!
